Welcome to the Table Project - McKees Rocks

How We Helped:

Tri-state Office Furniture sponsors Welcome to the Table by providing food once a month for the weekly dinner distribution.  Ed Meyer gives words of wisdom to the Sto-Rox youth that gather for this Wednesday evening event.  Other Tri-state employees participate by shopping for supplies, serving food, and delivering meals to people in the community who are unable to pick-up meal/s at the McKees Rocks High School cafeteria.

What They Do:

Welcome to the Table Project serves to-go evening meals to the students and residents of McKees Rocks and Stowe Township, each Wednesday, from 5:30 - 6:30P.M.  Approximately 100 residents benefit from Welcome to the Table weekly.  This project is one of the vital resources designed to fight hunger in our community.  During the 2020 pandemic, weekly donations of breakfast bags were provided to two community food banks (Stowe Township & McKees Rocks).  Post-pandemic, the breakfast bags are distributed along with the Wednesday evening meal in an effort to continue serving families, individuals and students in the community.

The Bradley Center

How We Helped:

The Bradley Center Pittsburgh is near and dear to Tri-state’s hearts.  Ed Meyer, CEO of Tri-state Office Furniture brands has been on the board of directors for about 10 years.  He has seen firsthand how this organization has impacted children and young adults.   Tri-state employees have participated in fundraising events as well as the annual gift wrapping “party” for the resident’s Christmas gifts.  They also host select students to visit Tri-state do a little work, play with some puppies and have a treat.  Tri-state provides PR (through advertising and photography) for the annual “Gathering of Chef’s” event in September as well as other fundraising events throughout the year.

During the 2020 school expansion project Tri-state Office Furniture furnished: 10 classrooms, executive office spaces, conference and training rooms, records storage, maintenance, a learning support lab and calm room, plus café tables and chairs.  Student safety was a priority in designing functional and beautiful spaces for both students and staff.  Additional concerns for finish clean-ability was considered in the choice of materials.

What They Do:

Helping children since 1905. Giving hope and opportunities to our community's children who have experienced severe trauma, who may have intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and behavioral health and educational needs.

#4DaCulture / Sto-Rox Athletics

How We Helped:

Tri-state Office Furniture has been in McKees Rocks since 2010,  but Ed Meyer has been a business owner in McKees Rocks for over 20 years. This area has become an extension of who Ed is, so it only makes sense to lift the community up where and when he can.  Ed met LaRoi Johnson through other community involvement activities and quickly realized what an asset LaRoi was to his students.  The two of them came up with a plan to help both the students and community through monthly community clean-up days.  Tri-state has donated protective gear for the students (and staff), clean-up supplies, trash removal, pizza and water for the participants, as well as photo documentation of the events.

What They Do:

ABOUT #4DaCulture:   Coach Johnson leads by example and helps local high school athletes tour colleges as well as pushes them to be exceptional athletes and leaders.  These students are driven to compete in tournaments in an effort to be seen by recruiters.  He teaches his students to take pride in their community, by organizing community clean-up days.

The Little Fox - Toby's Foundation

Toby's Foundation works to educate on the importance of Safe Sleep Practices for infants, provides insight on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and supports families (parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family) who are grieving the loss of an infant.  Their mission is to ensure that every baby sleeps safely.   This can happen through education and the correct tools and resources for families with a new baby.

The Josh Gibson Foundation

Who They Are:

Considered one of the greatest home run hitters and most feared sluggers of any era, Josh Gibson left an undeniable legacy of greatness and accomplishment during his time in the Negro Leagues. The goal of the Josh Gibson Foundation is to provide the type of access that Josh Gibson never enjoyed with the creation of facilities and baseball fields dedicated to the youth of the Pittsburgh community. The Josh Gibson Foundation has evolved into an organization dedicated to providing a variety of academic and athletic programs that allow the next Josh Gibson to reach his or her potential.

In 1972, six years after Ted Williams campaigned for the election of Negro League players into the Hall of Fame, Josh Gibson got the nod. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of this historic event, the Josh Gibson Foundation will be playing host to several events this coming August, including a Hall of Fame luncheon and the Negro Leagues Youth Classic.

Animal Rescues

How We Helped:

Notably, Ed Meyer is on HARP's Board of Director.  Tri-state has donated food, carpet squares and furniture to these furry friend facilities.  Carpet squares provide comfy places for our four legged friends to rest in their kennels.  Gently used furniture donations were made for their “meet and greet rooms” giving a home-like environment for everyone to get acquainted!

Not only do we support our four-legged friends in the community, our offices are a pet-friendly environment!

A message from HAR Pittsburgh:

Dear Ed:  I recently had the chance to work with Bill Toskey at Tri-State Office Furniture to purchase some tall stools for our adoption desks at our two area animal shelters, and just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for making the process so quick and easy!  Bill was so incredibly responsive and helpful – and I look forward to working with him many more times in the future.  As I was looking at your website, I saw among your “staff photos” those of Blaze, Ozzie and George - - most adorable employees of the bunch ... Warm regards,  Christine Serkoch, Director of Corporate Partnerships

The Ultimate House 2018

How We Helped:

Back in 2018, Tri-state Office Furniture partnered with Pittsburgh Magazine, RDC Design-Build, Inc. and other local supporters to create the first corporate display in Pittsburgh’s Ultimate House.  Formerly the Empire Furniture Co., the 1900s-era building was transformed into a mixed-use development.  "Empire on Liberty” featured close to a half dozen loft-style units, retail space, and office space.  Tri-state was responsible for furnishing the office setting.  Scheduled tours of the entire facility benefitted The Free Care Fund at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
